Online Resume
An online resume is a soft copy of your resume which is usually uploaded on a website, sent to an email, or scanned by employers. This may be your personal website or an online job match-making website. Also, employers sometimes instruct you to email your resume to them. You need to make sure that it will look consistently clear when uploaded, sent, or scanned.
Creating an online resume is easy. Write your resume as you would have written it, including all the important information. However, you will have to avoid using complex formatting. Refrain from using tables, indention tools, paragraph borders, and custom fonts. All of these tools may not be compatible to the ones your employer uses. Using the simplest formatting will ensure you that it will look good and presentable.
In saving your online resume, you may choose from these three formats: ASCII, HTML, and PDF. The ASCII is a text format that is usually used for email messaging. This reduces other elements and leaves only the text. The HTML format allows you to embed your resume file into a certain website. The PDF format cannot be edited and can only be opened using a PDF reader. These formats are all useful for your online resume.
