By | March 23, 2009

Posting your resume online opens you up for more opportunities. Your resume will be seen by more employers and the chances of you getting employment are much higher.

If you haven’t tried this option yet, it is time to learn more about it. You can post your resume on your own or seek the assistance of an online posting service.

The first step in posting your resume online is to change the format of your resume from simple word processor format to any of the available online formats i.e. ASCII, HTML or PDF.

There are many online job boards that will allow you to post your resume online in the simple word processor format. You should therefore keep the original word processor version.

Prepare several different resumes all specific to the jobs you want to apply for. Thus if an employer looking for someone with your attributes comes across the resume that reflects his interests, he will be sure to be interested in you.

You will also need to create a cover letter that speaks to different employers at once. It should be general and not contain any addresses as you do not know the name of the employers who will come across your resume.

Take a look at all the major job boards and find out what type of services they offer. Posting your resume on most major job boards is free. Some job boards will offer you the services of an online resume builder.

In this case you will not have to write up your resume and go through the process of converting it to HTML, PDF or ASCII.
